Running SwyxIt!

This article assumes that you already have the SwyxIt! software client installed.  If you don't please either contact your IT administrator, or helpdesk@purpleuc.com

You will generally find that SwyxIt! will run automatically when you log in, but it can also be found in the Windows Start menu

Configuring SwyxIt! (inside your company network or VPN)

The first time you run SwyxIt! you will be asked to enter the server name, your user name and your password.  If you do not have this information please contact your IT administrator, or helpdesk@purpleuc.com

In most cases....

- the server name will be either swyx.yourdomain.local or INTX-SWYX?? (where ?? is the number of your Swyx server e.g. INTX-SWX19)

- the user name will be your first and last name (e.g. Joe Bloggs)

- the password will have been communicated to you

- you can tick Remember Password if you want to

Configuring SwyxIt! (outside your company network via RemoteConnector)

If you are a mobile worker or home worker, SwyxIt! can be configured to allow you to work remotely, using a secure certificate to connect to your Swyx Server over the public Internet.  In order to do this, you will either need to have connected initially inside your company network, or have a security certificate provided to you which will need to be installed on your computer.  If you have not previously used SwyxIt!, or do not have a certificate please contact your IT administrator, or helpdesk@purpleuc.com

- In order to access and change your settings, click on the Settings menu and choose Local Settings

- Select the Connection Settings tab, entering the details in the same way as you would to configure SwyxIt! inside your company network.

- Click on the Advanced button

- Enter the Public Server Address, in the format swyx??.purpleuc.com, where ?? is the number of your Swyx Server

- If you have previously connected SwyxIt! inside the company network, you should have an Automatic Certificate available to you

- If you have not previously connected, but have manually installed a security certificate, you will need to select Manual and choose it from the drop down box.

When to use RemoteConnector

You change when SwyxIt! chooses to use RemoteConnector, using one of three options, although Automatically will suit most people:

- Automatically: SwyxIt! will try to connect to your internal company network first, and use RemoteConnector if it cannot connect

- Always: SwyxIt! will never try to connect to your internal network, and always use RemoteConnector

- Never: SwyxIt! will never use RemoteConnector, even if configured, and will only try to use your company network.
